Each Making Waves participant must qualify for the program. Program Parameters: Ages 10 through 15 years old; Approval from the attending physician; Independently ambulatory;
Diagnoses such as but not limited to:
Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis Cancer Charcot-Marie-Tooth Injury Congenital bone/joint defects Asthma Low bone density Diabetes
Scoliosis Obesity Mild ambulatory hemiplegia from stroke or CP Rehabilitative phase of a cardiac condition Other disease process limiting strength, range of motion, balance, endurance or daily function.
The following conditions are contra-indications to participating in Making Waves:
Bowel or bladder incontinence Inability to control saliva or sputum Significant mental disorder Open wounds Open stoma or tracheostomy Eruptive skin condition Infectious disease Unstable cardiac condition
Active joint disease Seizure Uncontrolled, excessive menstrual bleed Fever Non-ambulatory status Diminished mental capacity Fear of water
